Love chocolates? Well, Don’t hold your hand back.

Years and years have been spent on finding the benefits of chocolate. Let us see what recent researches suggest. Millions of people like chocolate. According to scientists at Louisiana State University Bifidobacterium and lactic acid bacteria produce some compounds that help to resist against inflammation in your body. It means that dark chocolate is good for your digestive system and your heart.

Researchers examined cocoa powder to guess what exactly happens inside human digestive tract. In the experiment, cocoa powder was first treated in test tubes that contained a stomach-like environment with enzymes. These did not break down the large antioxidants, resulting in absorbable into the bloodstream.

The study leader Dr. John Finley’s team then passed cocoa through a colon-like environment that was created using real fecal samples. There, the microbes feasted on the bacteria, breaking it down into molecules that would be much more likely to pass successfully into the bloodstream. The microbes also broke down the small amount of fiber in the cocoa which gives an increased feeling of being full if passed into the bloodstream. Molecules that were present after microbes broke down the antioxidants had amazing anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular benefits.

Dr. Finley said at the National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society last month:

“When these compounds are absorbed by the body, they lessen the inflammation of cardiovascular tissue, reducing the long-term risk of stroke. The next step is to give people cocoa powder and see if we can find these metabolites in the blood.”

Now, you have one more reason to love dark chocolate. Well, I am going to get another jar right now!
